Abstract
1,166,477. Altering physical structure. NIPPON KOKAN K.K. 18 Oct., 1966 [30 Oct., 1965], No. 46543/66. Heading B3V. The mechanical strength of an elongate ferrous workpiece is improved by twisting it, without giving rise to any substantial dimensional deformations, at a temperature substantially higher than room temperature but substantially below the metal's recrystallization temperature. The preferred temperature range is 200-400 C., particularly 300 C.
