Abstract

1,089,069. Fuses; two-part couplings. SQUARE D CO. Dec. 7, 1965 [Jan. 6, 1965], No. 51809/65. Headings H2E and H2G. A fuse holder 24 which may be plugged into a casing 22 has contact clips 54 and 56 and extending from these clips contacts 54b and 56b which are at right angles to each other on adjacent sides of the fuse holder. When the fuse holder is inserted into the casing, contact 54b engages the end 37a of a load terminal strap 37, and contact 56b engages a dimple (26d) on one leg of an L-shaped line terminal 27 (Fig. 6, not shown). The insulating body of the fuse holder has an integral enlarged portion 52b which prevents engagement of contact clip 54 with line terminal 26 as the fuse holder is inserted into the casing. In a second embodiment (Figs. 12-14, not shown), the enlarged portion is formed separately from the insulating body of the holder and is riveted to a bracket secured to the lower end of the holder. The casing 22 accommodates two fuse holders 24 and is formed in two halves which form pockets, when riveted together, to hold indicating lamps 28, resistors 34 connected to the lamps, load terminal straps 37 and 38, and a pair of spring members 40 co-operable with straps 37 and 38 to form load terminals. A pair of jaws 26g are riveted to the end of line terminal 26 to form a socket for engagement with a contact on a distribution board, and a mounting clip 42 may be provided. In a further embodiment (Fig. 15, not shown), dual fuse holders are connected by a common handle (52e).
