Abstract
1,088,115. Tube-type heat exchangers. C. A. PARSONS & CO. Ltd. Feb. 22, 1966 [March 22, 1965], No. 12117/65. Heading F4S. In a boiler feedwater heater which comprises tubes 1 within a casing 2, both the tubes and the casing having the shape of an inverted J, feedwater enters the tubes via inlet header 6 in the long limb of the casing, and is released at outlet header 5 in the short limb. Steam enters the casing through inlet 7 in the short limb and condensate is released through outlet 9 in the long limb. Any condensate in the short limb runs down connection 13 into the long limb. Baffles 8 are provided within the casing but clear of the sides thereof to allow movement of the tubes within the casing for inspection of the tube sheets. The casing is of larger diameter close to the tube end-plates 3, 4 in order to facilitate welding of the plates to the casing. The curved portion of the casing may be constructed in two parts of semi-circular crosssection and welded together and to the straight portion when the tubes are in place.
