Abstract
975,142. Tube-type heat-exchangers. C. A. PARSONS & CO. Ltd. Sept. 20, 1963 [Sept. 25, 1962], No. 36433/62. Heading F4S. A boiler feed water heater comprises a casing 2 containing a plurality of tubes 1 each bent to the form of.a U with one limb longer than the other, the inlet and outlet ends of the tubes being supported in separate flat tube plates 4 and 3, inlet and outlet feed-water headers 5, 6 being situated at the ends of the tubes in the shorter and longer limbs respectively and being respectively adjacent a steam inlet 7 and a condensate outlet 9 in the casing. The casing 2 may be of similar shape to the tubes and have a larger cross-section at its ends and at that portion enclosing the curved part of the tubes. Holes 10 and 11 may be provided for fitting and inspection of the tube ends. To inspect the inner sides of the tube plate the welds between the casing and plate are broken, the clearance between baffles 8 and casing 2 allowing the casing to be lowered by the distance " d." The casing 2 may be constructed from a number of parts after the tubes are in position in the tube plates.
