Abstract

1,086,585. Cigar making machines. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. April 21, 1965--[April 30, 1964], No. 16756/65. Heading A2C. A cigar bunch rolling machine includes a table having an upper surface 18, a rolling apron 13 and two rolling pins 46 and 48 supported by an endless chain conveyer 44 for continuous movement forwardly over the table surface 18 and rearwardly under the table. A plunger 19 places a charge C of tobacco on the apron 30 and forms a pocket P therein. Rolling pin 46 then engages the apron and rolls the bunch over the table surface 18, both apron 30 and surface 18 being provided with suitable suction orifices. The rolled bunch is discharged down a sloping part 98 of the table and taken by a reciprocating gripper 100. As rolling pin 46 moves to the position shown occupied by rolling pin 48, the pin 48 moves to a position ready to engage the apron 30 and roll a second bunch.
