[Also in Group XVII] In apparatus for arranging rod-shaped articles such as lengths of cigarette filter tips in batches and feeding them to a receiver such as a carton, the articles S pass from a magazine 1 down a duct 3, one wall of which is formed by a rotating drum 3a, having a smooth periphery, to a travelling belt 5. They are removed in a batch from the belt by a plunger (Fig. 2, not shown) operating at right angles to the belt travel. The apparatus shown is duplex, a common stop 6 limiting the forward movement of the articles on both belts. The receiver may be a carton moved downwards intermittently to accommodate layers of the articles.
