Abstract

897,551. Feeding tobacco. KÍRBER, K. Nov. 5, 1959 [Nov. 12, 1958; Dec. 11, 1958], No. 37542/59. Class 130. Tobacco showered into a rotating cup 10 is formed by centrifugal force into a thin primary stream moving in a rotary path, which stream is delivered tangentially on to a slower moving belt 2 to form a thicker stream which is further retarded by a feed-wheel 3. The cup 10 has upper and lower portions 14, 13, separated by a narrow gap 10a which is closed around the entire periphery of the cup, except opposite the belt 2, by a moving belt 15. The tobacco shower, guided by belts 11, 12, builds up into the primary stream at the part of the cup periphery covered by the belt 15 and is discharged through the gap 10a on to the belt 2. From the grooved wheel 3 the tobacco rod is conveyed by a suction belt 6 on to the wrapping mechanism 5, surplus tobacco being removed by a trimmer 9. A suction belt may be provided above the belt 2.
