Abstract

986,640. Cigarette-making machines. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. Sept. 1, 1961 [Sept. 15, 1960], No. 31600/61. Heading A2C. Tobacco delivered from a belt 10 to a suction conveyer drum 28 is picked or deflected by a picker roll 32 so that it is redistributed evenly over the drum 28 and excess tobacco is removed by a trimming wheel 34 into a shoot 36. The tobacco remaining on the drum is delivered to an endless conveyer web 40 situated below the level of the roll 32 and wheel 34. The web 40 delivers the tobacco to a paper web 38 for transmission to the rod forming mechanism of the cigarette making machine. The height of the roll 32, which rotates at a faster peripheral speed than the drum 28, above the conveyer 40 is variable. Specification 952,077 is referred to.
