Abstract

1322732 Cigarette-making machine MOLINS Ltd 24 June 1970 [24 June 1969] 31793/69 Heading A2C The machine comprises means for forming a tobacco stream on an air-pervious band 12 arranged to carry the tobacco stream by means of suction, and a transfer wheel 22 which receives the tobacco stream from the band 12 and is arranged to carry the tobacco stream by means of suction on to a continuous wrapper 14 in which the tobacco stream is enclosed to form a cigarette rod. Tobacco is fed by air up a chimney 10 onto the lower run of the band 12 which then carries it in an anticlockwise direction past a trimmer 20 to the suction wheel 22. The tobacco-engaging surface of the band 12 is preferably rough and may take the form of ribs extending across a metal band which may be like louvres defining ridges and suction openings.
