Abstract

1,085,755. Forging. HYDRAULIK G.m.b.H. Oct. 5, 1964, No. 40537/64. Heading B3H. An hydraulic drop forging press has a main cylinder formed by a forged ring 7 having an internal collar 8 on which the hydraulic pressure acts to press the ring against the adjacent press crosshead 1, the main piston 10 having an extension 11 guided in the crosshead. This construction is intended to resist eccentric loading forces P, E being transmitted to the press frames 3. The piston 10 may be inserted in a piston head 15 carrying the upper platen 17 which is retracted by return rams 13, 14, Fig. 1 (not shown). Upper and lower press crossheads 1, 2 are interconnected by laminated frames 3 engaging shoulders 5 on the crossheads. In another embodiment, Figs. 3-5 (not shown), the press has two parallel main cylinders on the upper crosshead and four laminated frame members, Fig. 5 (not shown). The main cylinder 7 may be disposed above the lower crosshead 2.
