Abstract

1,157,827. Forging presses. MASCHINENFABRIK SACK G.m.b.H. 23 Aug., 1966 [25 Aug., 1965], No. 37769/66. Heading B3H. An hydraulic forging press has a two-column frame 1 with upper and lower crossheads 2, 3 movable relatively to a bedplate 6 by an hydraulic drive (12), (13), Fig. 2 (not shown), between the bedplate and one of the crossheads, the columns 4 being of oblong crosssection. The press has a lower die block 15 mounted on the bedplate 6 and an upper die block 16 secured to the upper crosshead 2; both die blocks may be rotated about a vertical axis for changing the direction of the main forging axis (17), (18), Fig. 3 (not shown), along which workpieces are fed into the press. The die blocks are fed into the press at right-angles to the main forging axis which is preferably oblique to the plane of the frame 1. The latter is made as an integral steel casting with the columns 4 of U-shape or preferably rectangular cross-section. These columns are guided in parts 7, 8 of the rectangular bedplate 6 with interposed strips or wedges 9 for taking up clearance. More than one hydraulic cylinder may be used. The rectangular columns may be disposed with their sides oblique to the plane of the frame 1.
