Abstract

1,083,091. Oscillating fans. YUZO KAWAI. Sept. 29, 1964, No.39534/64. Heading F1C. In an oscillating fan, a bedplate 12, Fig. 1, supporting the fan motor 17 is pivotally supported on a support member 14 through a spindle 13, the support member 14 being tiltable relative to a stand 11 about an axis 15. The bedplate 12 is oscillatable relative to the support member 14 by means of a crank 29 and connecting rod 30. The crank 29 is driven from the impeller hub 20 through a belt 24, pulley 23, shaft 22 and worm gearing 26, 27, Fig. 2. Shaft 22 is in two parts 22', 22", connected by a dog clutch 25, 25' which can be disengaged, when oscillating movement is not required, by moving the part 22" to the right by means of an eccentric 34 engaging an annular groove 32. The eccentric is carried by a spindle 33 having a ball detent 39. The fan can be dismantled by removing the impeller 19 from the motor 17, removing the motor from the bedplate 12 and dismounting the bedplate from the stand 11.
