Abstract

650,508. Screw fans. ERCOLE MARELLI & CIE SOC. PER AZIONI. July 5,1948, No. 18080. Convention date, July 4, 1947. [Class 110(i)] An electric fan in which the motor has a fixed shaft and a rotating casing on which the fan blades are mounted, comprises - rotating members driven from the motor .casing and connected by linking elements to a supporting journal, whereby an oscillating motion about the journal is imparted. The fixed motor shaft 2 is carried by a member 3 which also comprises a bearing for a stationary journal 4. A worm 7 carried by the rotating motor casing 1 drives a worm wheel 8 which is connected to a second worm (not shown) meshing with a worm wheel 9. The latter drives a crank 10 which is connected by a connect. ing rod 11 which is pivoted at 12 to a member 5. The latter is connected to the shaft 4 by a friction clutch 13, whereby the fan may be moved around to face in a desired direction. Means (not described) are provided for disconnecting the oscillating mechanism. Specification 646,317 is referred to.
