Abstract

939,894. Mounting electric motors. HOLO-FLITE INTERNATIONAL Inc. April 25, 1962 [Sept. 11, 1961], No. 15748/62. Class 35. [Also in Group XXIV] The motor 13 is housed within a pulley drum 10 and supported between a spigot 15, rotatably mounted in end wall 11, and the speed reducing gear which has spigot 20 rotatably mounted in end wall 12. Motor shaft 59 fits in socket 57 of the lay shaft 12 which is carried in bearings 29, 51, 50 and 48 and supports pinion 40. This pinion drives pinion 41 and countershaft 42 which has teeth 45 and thus rotates sleeve 47 which in turn rotates pinion 53 mounted on a second countershaft 24. The internal ring gear 34 meshes with pinion 53 and is located between end housing 12 and intermediate housing 30, the latter also supporting shaft 27 in bearing 29, and is clamped against stops 60 by means of the longitudinal bolts 37 so that drum 10 rotates when pinion 53 turns. The outer surface of the drum may be treated to increase its frictional engagement with the driving belt. Air may be circulated through the drum by means of fan blades 54 mounted on the intermediate housing.
