A motor-driven fan unit is mounted in a duct 1 by means of trunnions 7a, 7b carried by the motor 3 on an axis passing through the centre of gravity, the trunnions being received in recesses 9 in cantilevered support arms 5a, 5b secured to the duct. An inspection door 10a, 10b extending over one half of the duct periphery has a height H exceeding the diameter D of the fan impeller 4 to enable the fan unit to be removed from the duct when turned through 90 degrees into the position shown dotted. The fan unit can be turned through 180 degrees to reverse the direction of flow.
