The motor 1 of a ceiling fan is suspended from the ceiling by means of arms 5 pivoted on trunnions 6 carried by a yoke 7, which in turn is pivoted at 8 to a support-tube 9. A conical wheel 11, driven directly or through reduction gearing by the motor, frictionally engages a bevelled rubber disc 12 which may be of circular, oval or other shape, so that the fan gyrates about the tube 9.
