Abstract
1,079,858. Suspending curtains. W. E. ALGIE. June 8, 1964 [June 7, 1963], No. 22725/63. Heading A4B. [Also in Division E1] Curtains 49 or folding walls are supported by a set of interconnected zig-zag links 2, 3 slidably suspended from a track 15 in such manner that as the curtain 49 is moved to its open position towards a jamb 5 adjacent pairs of links 2, 3 collapse successively in the region of the jamb 5 whereby the part 53 of the curtain 49 in the region of the jamb 5 is folded progressively while the remaining part 52 retains its unfolded condition. Each link 2 is pivoted, as at 56, 57, to links 3 on each side thereof and in the extended position the links 2, 3 are locked against relative rotation by engagement of the cammed free end 7 of one link 3 in a groove 35 provided in a locking member 4 pivoted, as at 29, to the other link 2. When the curtain is opened, e.g. by pressure at the free edge 51 of the curtain, the end link 58 is rotated by engagement with the jamb 5 abouts its end remote from the jamb whereby the inner end 43 of the link 58 engages the free end 32 of a locking member 4 to rotate the latter and free the next link 3 whereby the links 2, 3 are successively collapsed as they approach the jamb. Curtain hanging rings (20) (Fig. 6) releasably engage a collar at the track supported end of each link 2.
