Magnetos, driving.-In starting by hand a heavy or semi-heavy explosion engine with magneto ignition, the magneto is driven at a high speed through a multiplying gear which is automatically cut out when the engine is started. The magneto is normally driven from the driving-shaft 2 through bevel-gearing 1, 13, the connexion between the shaft 2 and the bevel-wheel 1 being effected through pawl and ratchet mechanism 3, 4. At starting, the bevel-wheel 1 is driven from the shaft 2 through multiplying gear 6, 7, 11, 12, the toothed wheel 7 being driven through pawl and ratchet mechanism 8, 9. Automatic disconnexion of the multiplying gear is effected by a spring 22 forcing the counter shaft 10 to the right when the externally screwed sleeve 21 has become disengaged from the bearing 17.
