Abstract

The method differs from that in the parent Specification in that the reinforcing unit (22), Fig. 1 (not shown), comprising a heel reinforcing pin (26) secured to a shank reinforcing member (28) is located in the mould cavity (12) before locating the shoe bottom of a lasted upper (15) against the cavity. By injecting e.g. p.v.c. through a passage 16 an integral sole and heel unit is bonded to the shoe bottom solely by the material of the unit. The shank reinforcing member (28) is of metal and is located by two magnetic pins (21), Fig. 3 not shown), projecting into the cavity (14). Fig. 2 (not shown) shows a modified reinforcing unit comprising a reinforcing pin (54) secured to the shank reinforcing member (56) by a rivet (58).
