Abstract
1,173,260. Injection moulding soles on to uppers. DESMA-WERKE G.m.b.H. 11 Nov., 1968 [22 Nov., 1967], No. 53258/68. Addition to 1,143,530. Heading B5A. [Also in Division A3] The method of the parent Specification is applied to the production of multi-part e.g. multi-layer soles, the material for each part being injected into a mould cavity 16 (Fig. 1) which is larger than the sole part, the cavity 16 being then reduced so as to form the sole part and bond it with the shoe upper or with a previously moulded shoe part. As shown in Fig. 1 material for the layers 17, 18 is injected through passages l2a, 12b respectively, the bottom plunger 11 being in the position shown during both injections. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 2, not shown) the bottom plunger assumes an intermediate position for the first injection with the lower injection passage cut off by the plunger. In the example shown in Fig. 3, the bottom plunger 11 has an upstanding flange 20 which helps to prevent intermixing of the material of the two layers 17, 18.
