Abstract

In a boot in which flanged studs (2) are secured to receptacles (3) embedded in the sole (1), the flanges (4) are accommodated in cavities (12) formed in the undersurface of the sole. The receptacles are located in the sole during moulding by pegs (9) each having a portion (16) to engage in the receptacle (3), a collar (15) acting as a distance piece to locate the receptacle heightwise, and a flange (11) to form a cavity (12). The upper surface of flange (11) is concave so that cavity (12) is formed with a domed bottom (14) to engage the concave surface of flange (4). Pegs (9) may be integral with the mould bottom or may have shanks (10) sweated into bores in the mould.
