Abstract

1,074,160. Loud-speakers. ROLA CO. (AUSTRALIA) PROPRIETARY Ltd. Oct. 19, 1964 [Oct. 18,1963], No. 42499/64. Heading H4J. A loud-speaker including a magnet assembly incorporating a ring magnet 2 and a diaphragm housing 1 of magnetic material has a spacer 3 of non-magnetic material located between the housing 1 and the magnet assembly. The spacer 3 is a dished washer having its inner rim 4 attached to a polepiece 5 and its outer rim 6 attached to the housing 1. Dimples on the rims 4 and 6 permit projection welding. Housing 1 is of mild steel while spacer 3 is of copper alloy (e.g. brass) or aluminium alloy. Magnetic flux leakage between the front and rear surfaces of the magnet 2 through the housing 1 is minimized. An optimum value of dimension 8 for any loud-speaker may be determined.
