Abstract

106,260. Shailer, P. H. June 30, 1916, [Convention date]. Valves; valve-gear.- A rotary cylindrical valve for four-strokecycle engines is divided by a longitudinal partition 11 into equal compartments 12, 13 having inlet ports 14, 17 communicating alternately with the supply pipe 15, and ports 16, 18 communicating alternately with the inlet port 27 of the engine cylinder. The partition 11 is provided with am exhaust passage 19, each end of which is alined alternately with the port 27 acting as an exhaust port. The valve is held in position by a screw cap 24 at one end and a screw collar 25 at the other end, to which is secured a gear wheel 22. A water jacket 23 may be provided, and one end of the valve may be sealed by a plug 26.
