Abstract

1,059,280. Removing waste products in industrial processes. PARKS-CRAMER CO. Dec. 8, 1964 [April 16, 1964], No. 49961/64. Heading F4X. [Also in Division D1] In an overhead travelling cleaner for removing fibre waste &c. from textile machinery, air' blowing and suction housings each having separate impellers are mounted in superposed non-communicating relation, each housing having two radially extending hollow arms with depending tubes, whereby air is blown on to the appropriate surface by tubes 92, 93 and fibre waste extracted through the suction tubes 82, 83. In one embodiment, Fig. 3, in which the cleaner A is carried on overhead tracks 20, the suction housing 26, together with the suction impeller housing 27 is disposed above the blowing housing 25 and an electric motor 34, providing a common drive for the suction and blowing impellers (42, 41), Fig. 5 (not shown). Flexible suction tubes 82, 83 depend from the hollow extending arms 80, 81 and have suction nozzles 84, 85 respectively attached thereto. Rigid blowing tubes 92, 93 depend from hollow arms 90, 91 with vertically arranged and inwardly directed nozzles 94, 95 and auxiliary blowing tubes 102, 103 respectively. Air is drawn through filter 31 and fibre waste is collected in a collecting chamber 111. The chamber 111 includes a filter 112 in the form of a door which opens automatically at predetermined time intervals for discharging collected fibre waste from the chamber 111 into a suitable container and a suction mouthpiece positioned on the path of the travelling cleaner. The suction and blowing housings are relatively movable to occupy a position as indicated in Fig. 4 (not shown). In a second form, Figs. 9-15A (not shown), the cleaner (A<SP>1</SP>) is carried by a crane and the cleaner is inverted with respect to the cleaner illustrated in the embodiment. In a third embodiment, Figs. 16-18 (not shown) the cleaner (A<SP>11</SP>) includes a pair of angularly adjustable suction cleaning suctions (S<SP>11</SP>, S-a). The motor (34<SP>11</SP>) is mounted superposed between the blowing housing (25<SP>11</SP>) and the suction housings (26a, 26<SP>11</SP> and 27). The blowing housing (25<SP>11</SP>) is provided with a pair of short volute ducts (240, 241) coupled to tubes (242-245) having nozzles (246, 249) for directing high velocity air.
