Abstract

1,058,731. Steam cabinet baths. R. T. ANDERSON and N. W. ANDERSON. June 4, 1964 [Dec. 16, 1963], No. 23255/64. Heading A4N. The door 25 of a cabinet bath carries bath control knobs 28 accessible to the user of the bath through arm holes in the door. The bath includes a sheet metal or reinforced synthetic resin cabinet with an electrically heated steam boiler and the arm holes have hinged flaps 33 or flexible sleeve closures. The knobs 28 control the boiler through a time switch and a thermostatically controlled switch responsive to the internal temperature of the cabinet. The low pressure boiler 34 is heated by two elements, one of which is switched off as the boiling temperature is reached. Steam is supplied through pipes 40. A ball float drops to allow water to enter boiler 34, but on falling below a lower limit, it operates a switch to de-energise the heaters. The water supply is also connected to spray nozzles 46 controlled by handle 45. A flap 26 covering a neck recess hinges back to form a head rest. An arrangement for supplying air of controllable temperature to the cabinet is also described.
