Abstract
1,057,989. Carrying conductors through partitions. FELTEN & GUILLEAUME CARLSWERK A.G. Aug. 6, 1964 [Nov. 12, 1963], No. 31983/64. Heading H2E. An insulating lead-in device carrying an insulated conductor into a box 15 comprises insulating tubular members 14 mounted on said box coaxially with a bore therein, and plastically deformable metal washers 13, the parts being bolted together. A single nut and bolt 11, Fig. 1, may be used, and may form the current carrying member, in which case the bolt is surrounded by an insulating sleeve 16, the washers being arranged at the ends of the members 14, which are of ceramic material, for sealing purposes. The washers may be of copper, aluminium, silver or gold, and the nuts and bolts of beryllium copper alloy or hard steelwith a coating of copper, aluminium, silver or brass. In a modification, Fig. 3, the inner conductor 28 may have a plate-shaped enlargement 29 which is clamped between tubular ceramic members 31 by bolts 34 to compress washers 32. In further embodiments (not shown) for use with a coaxial cable, further ceramic tubes and metallic washers are provided to form water-tight seals between both conductors and the box.
