Abstract

1.229,169. Electric couplings &c. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 11 Nov., 1969 [15 Nov., 1968], No. 55115/69. Heading H2E. A coaxial connector for operation at high temperatures in an oxidizing medium includes hermetically sealed metal bellows 1 containing argon and a small amount of helium, to one end of which a conductor 7 is welded; this is also welded to central wire 5a of a coaxial line. A cup-shaped platinum member 9 is welded to the other end of the bellows and presses against a platinum hemisphere 11 forming the end of conductor 13 which is welded to central wire 5b of a second coaxial line. The conductors 7, 13 are insulated by alumina members 15, 17, from outer conductive sleeves 19, 21 welded to metal tubes 3a, 3b. Platinum washers 23, 25 are welded to the tips of sleeves 19, 21 and are compressed by nut 27. All the non-platinum metal parts are made of stainless steel.
