Abstract
1,056,146. Gas lighters. ALTENPONL & PILGRAM G.m.b.H. April 22, 1964 [April 24 1963], No. 16613/64. Heading F4F. The flame of a gas lighter is regulated by compressing a cupshaped resilient memher 13 by means of a screw 9 threaded into a valve housing 2, and the cup-shaped member 13 prevents the escape of gas between the screw 9 and the valve housing 2. The cup - shaped member 13 has a gas passage 14 and is seated in an annular recess in a base screw 16 and its upper surface is enclosed by a cup-shaped valve seating 17 set in a shoulder of the regulating screw 9. The gas passes through a cross bore 7 to a longitudinal bore 8 in a spring pin 5 having at its lower end a seal 19 adapted to engage the valve seating 17. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the cupshaped member 13 is seated in an annular groove in the base of the valve housing and the inner wall of the cup-shaped valve seating 17 is conical. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the spring pin 5 seats directly on the cup-shaped member 13 and its upper end may be tapered to serve as a seal; and the lower end of the regulating screw is chamfered and seats directly on the cup-shaped member 13.
