Abstract

1,055,224. Cartons for cans; wrap-round cartons. JOS. SCHULTZ BREWING CO. Sept. 15, 1965 [Oct. 5, 1964], No. 39446/65. Headings B8C and B8P. An open-ended paperboard carton for two side-by-side rows of cans, has upstanding strips 11 between the rows with downward extensions 12 for engaging the chimes at the lower ends of the cans, each of the strips having slots 14 so that the said chimes extend within the slots in contacting relation. Tabs 7 fold inwardly to provide finger openings, tabs 8 fold inwardly to engage inner portions of the cans chimes and prevent longitudinal movement, and tabs 9 fold inwardly so that portions 10 bend upwardly and engage under the chimes on the upper ends of the cans. The container may be preformed or wrapped around the cans at the time of packaging.
