Abstract

1,051,224. Making iridium alloys. INTERNATIONAL NICKEL Ltd. Jan.14, 1966 [Feb. 16, 1965], No. 6666/65. Addition to 1, 016, 809. Headings C7A and C7D. An alloy of commercially pure Ir and 0, 005- 0À5% Ti and/or Zr is made by melting the constituents in the absence of oxygen. Thus the constituents may be melted in a closed furnace under argon or under a vacuum. The ingot may be edge forged at 1500‹C, rolled at 1500‹C to 0À1 inch thick and then rolled at 1100‹C to the required thickness.
