1,191,994. Rolling sheets; improving physical properties. CENTRE NATIONAL DE RECHERCHES METALLURGIQUES. 3 Dec., 1968 [15 Dec., 1967], No. 57325/68. Headings B3A and B3V. [Also in Division C7] An alloy of zinc containing by weight 0À05% to 2% of copper and 0À005% to 0À4% of titanium in addition to its usual impurities (lead, cadmium, tin, iron, indium, silver) is rolled at a temperature between 230‹ C. and 270‹ C. with at least one pass having a thickness reduction between 85% and 95%, preferably 88% and 90%. A secondary pass of 49% to 51% thickness reduction may also be used. The resultant sheet has a breaking load practically independent of the angle between the axis of a test piece and the direction of rolling. The preferred copper content is between 0À4% and 1À5% and the preferred titanium content between 0À10% and 0À20%. The zinc alloy may be sheet produced by continuous casting preferably " oblique " casting.
