Abstract

An alloy steel consists of:-<TABS:1123113/C6-C7/1> the balance, apart from impurities such as:-S P Ni up to 0.5% A1 up to 0.15% Cr and/or Cu up to 1.5% in total, being iron. In a modification of the alloys both Nb and V may be present if the carbon content is no higher than 0.08%. The alloy may be finished rolled at above 950 DEG C. optionally followed by quenching in oil or water and normalized at above 1000 DEG C. or it may be quenched in oil or water from 650 DEG -1100 DEG C. and aged at 350 DEG -700 DEG C. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,058,146.
