Abstract
1,048,769. Make and break switches, mechanical. VITRAMON Inc. Dec. 9, 1963 [March 14, 1963], No. 48580/63. Heading H2B. A switch 10, mounted on a frame 12 so that its actuating member 21 is engaged at regular intervals by a rotating arm, has mounting lugs 17a, 17b at each end and the lower face 17c of the lug 17a is inclined to provide a fulcrum 28. The switch is raised or lowered about this fulcrum by an adjusting screw 27, the lower end of which engages in a recess 29 in the frame and this adjustment determines the extent to which the member 21 projects into the path of the rotating actuating arm and thus also the period during which the contacts are actuated. The rotary arm moves in a plane perpendicular to the drawing and the actual instant of engagement with the member 21 is adjusted by slight rotation of the switch body around the screw 27 by turning an eccentric bush 25, located in the lug 17a. The switch itself comprises a fixed contact 18 and a moving contact blade 19 which is normally held in the open position by a spring blade 20. When the latter is raised by inward movement of the rod 21 the blade 19 is allowed to engage the fixed contact 18
