Abstract

742,609. Tumbler switches. ARNOLD, C. L., DOWSETT, R. W., SHARMAN, A., and M. K. ELECTRIC, Ltd. June 16, 1954 [June 8, 1953], No. 15772/43. Class 38(5) A switch comprises a lever 2 having a cam element 3 which operates a contact blade 13 through the intermediary of a roller (or ball) 5, the blade 13 being flexed against the bias of a spring 18 when the lever is moved to separate the contacts 14, 16. The roller 5 is freely located in a rectangular-shaped aperture 6 in a spring blade 8 fixed at 9, ears 11, 12 on the blade 8 acting as guides for the roller, the arrangement ensuring that when the lever 2 is operated the roller 5 can move relatively to the plane of the blade 8 and the latter is only slightly flexed. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the ear 12 is omitted and replaced by an ear formed on the upper surface of the blade 13.
