In an electric switch having a movable contact carried by a contact blade, the pivot connection between the blade and a fixed connector comprises a stud, having a convex outer surface, mounted on the fixed connector and against which the blade is retained by resilient means. A pivoted, operating dolly 8, Fig. 3 (not shown), has cam surfaces 27 and 28 which engage a stud 24 fixed to a contact blade 4 to move the switch to the " open " position, the stud 24 passing through an aperture 32 in spring arm 31 which extends between the cam and connector 6 to hold the dolly in position. The contact blade 4 which carries a contact 17 to engage a fixed contact 14 is biased to the " closed " position by a spring' 19. The other end of the contact blade 4 is held against a convex-ended stud 15 on the connector 6 and is located by a bar 22, attached to the blade 4, with an aperture 23 into which the stud 15 of the connector engages. Two such switches are mounted side by side and operated by a common dolly 8 to form a double pole switch. In another embodiment, the end of the blade 4 adjacent the contact 18 has lateral projection to engage slots in the side walls of the switch to prevent displacement of the blade.
