Abstract

1370048 Movable magnet switches SQUARE D CO 6 July 1972 [14 July 1971] 31565/72 Heading H1N A movable magnet switch has a housing 12 with a permanent magnet assembly 70 pivotally mounted therein and having walls 76, 78 of opposite polarity and an archway 84 over a sealed magnetic reed contact unit 48. The magnet assembly 70 comprises a permanent magnet 72 and a nylon holder 82 slotted at 86 to rock on a pivot pin 88 and engaged on its face 90 by a spring 91 on a plunger 30 biased by a spring 96. Depression of the plunger moves the spring end 91 on the surface 90 to produce snap action movement of the magnet from a medial position, shown, influencing change-over contacts of the contact unit 48 to an end position (Fig. 3, not shown) in which the contacts return to a biased condition. The plunger 30 may continue to move after contact actuation due to the snap action.
