Abstract

1,048,322. Knitting machines. SOC. ANON. EDOUARD DUBIED ET CIE. Jan. 20, 1964 [Jan. 31, 1963], No. 2433/64. Heading D1C. In an automatic parallel bed knitting machine having transfer needles 8 operated by jacks 11, auxiliary jacks 12 and lifters 13, the auxiliary jacks 12 and lifters 13 being selected by a Jacquard device, the cam box comprises a set of cams for each bed, each set comprising cams in three parallel zones C,D,E for actuating respectively the needles, in which zone suitable transfer cams are provided instead of central knitting cams, the jacks and the auxiliary jacks. The needle beds 4, 5 have knocking over bits 4c, 5c inserted individually and thinner than the walls between the needle tricks. They are secured by clamping bands 6, 7 and bed 4 may be lowered while bed 5 is racked a half gauge. The Jacquard mechanisms each comprise a prism 38, carrying a chain of cards 39, capable of rotating one or two steps clockwise or anticlockwise and movable from non working (dotted position) to working (full line position), Fig. 1. As shown in Figs 2, 3, 4, 5 (not shown), latched cams are fixed. In zone C are provided movable stitch cams 49, 50, movable transfer cams 51 for lifting all the transferring needles, movable separating cams 52, movable cams 53 for raising the needles to open their latches and movable cams 54 which are the transfer cams for partial lifting of the receiving needles. Zone D comprises movable lowering cams 57, 58 and lower lifting cams 60. Zone E comprises movable lowering and raising cams 69, 70. The operation of the machine in knitting a pattern and transferring stitches from one bed to the other is described with reference to Figs 2 to 5 (not shown).
