Abstract

1291788 Knitting - machines UNIVERSAL MASCHINGNFABRIK DR. RUDOLF SCHIEBER KG 18 Jan 1971 [30 Jan 1970] 2419/71 Heading D1C In a parallel knitting machine, stitches may be transferred on to elongated guide members 18 which guide them on to the point members 25 of a transfer member 24. A parallel V-bed machine has a frame 37, 38 carrying the two needle beds 5, 6 along which moves a carriage 14 carrying knitting cams in cam box 31, yarn guides 32 and patterning mechanism including Jacquard cards 33. Each border is knitted in the usual way, the initial course being engaged by the hooks 4 of a draw-off bar 2 which is raised by chain and which carries weights. When knitting is completed, all the stitches are carried on the needles of bed 6 and bed 5 is lowered, the stitches are spread by blades 19 and engaged by the upper ends 17 of the wires 18 mounted in a vertically movable carrier 13, as the ends 17 are deflected by cam 15 as the carriage moves across. The stitches are held by leaf springs 16, the needles are lowered and then as springs 16 are released sequentially by cam 15 the stitches slide down wires 18 to points 25 on a point bar 24 releasable secured in brackets 26 slidable on frame 37, 38. Wires 18 may be converged to allow for doubling that has taken place. Wires 18 are held against jaws 49 on fixed bars 58 by jaws 50 on a sliding bar biassed by spring 57 so that, as the stitches slide down wires 18, bar 51 is moved against spring 57 by electromagnets 52. Photoelectric cells 53, 54, 55, 56 along the path of bar 2 and illuminated by corresponding light sources and are amended to cause the appropriate movement of jaws 50 to allow the stitches to slide down.
