Abstract

1,046,900. Liquid containers. BOWATER PACKAGING Ltd. Aug. 23, 1965 [Aug. 21, 1964], No. 34290/64. Heading B8P. A liquid container comprises a rigid outer rectangular shell of corrugated paper or the like closed at one end by inner flaps 20, 21 and outer flaps 23, 24, a flexible liquid impermeable bag 40 of polythene &c. contained within the outer shell and a discharge outlet secured to the bag. A neck 41, Fig. 5 (not shown), of a discharge valve is inserted in a circular hole 26, Fig. 1 (not shown), in the inner flap 21 and the flaps 20, 21, 23, 24 are taped, stapled or adhesively secured to close the container. Lower end closure flaps 10, 12 and the abutting edges of side walls 1 and 4 are similarly secured. To open the container, a circular portion 37 which is out of alignment with the enclosed neck 41 is removed and a tab 39 pulled upwards, thereby rupturing score lines 38. A tab 34 is then torn away along a score line 32 and the neck 41 inserted into the circular hole 37. Flanges 42, 43 locate the neck in the flap 23 and the tab 39 is pressed back between the flanges to its initial position. A grip 52 is attached to a sleeve 50, Fig. 5 (not shown), which slides within the neck 41. When the grip 52 is pulled out, liquid discharges through a hole in the sleeve 50.
