Abstract

1,045,193. Stoppers for ladle nozzles. THOMAS MARSHALL & CO. (LOXLEY) Ltd. Aug. 13, 1965 [Aug. 28, 1964], No. 35436/64. Heading F4B. In a stopper for a ladle nozzle, the stopper end 14 is attached to the rod 10 by a pin 16 extending through holes 20, 18 in the respective members, the ends of the rod being protected by a skirt 24 on the lowermost sleeve 12. The latter is formed with a flange 30 engaging a ridge on the stopper end, and with an internal shoulder engaging the reduced diameter portion 22 of said stopper end. The pin may be of round, square or rectangular section and is made of steel or refractory material. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the lower end of the rod 10 is detachably secured as by screw threading to the rod and may be made of a higher grade steel. The stopper end 14 may also be made of plumbago instead of fireclay.
