Abstract
104,442. Loewen, P. June 21, 1916. Life-boats.-In life-boats of the enclosed type, the hull is made substantially cylindrical in a top and bottom section 2 and 1, Fig. 1, respectively, with portholes along the joint, the porthole plates 7 serving to assist in connecting the sections together. Other features include a rudder 51, Fig. 7, which can be moved out of and withdrawn into a recess 49 in the hull about a pivot 53 by a lever 65. The portholes are also made removable and oarlocks adapted in their place, as shown in Fig. 6. There are also an entrance lid 11, external ladder 18, pump 25 for emptying the bilge, hooks or eyes 8 at the ends, steering window 5, 6, steering-mechanism 57, 58, 59 operated from the bow, and other detail fittings.
