Abstract

1,043,658. Dental chairs. ETABLISSEMENTS E. QUETIN. June 14, 1965 [June 17, 1964], No. 24973/65. Heading A4J. A power operated dental chair has a hydraulic jack 5 located in a vertical plane extending longitudinally and centrally of the chair. A casing 4 containing a power unit is situated beneath and is pivotally attached to a seat 8 and is displaced to one side of the plane of the jack. A parallel linkage consisting of rods 3d, 3g and a rod 2 is connected to a base 1a and carries the casing 4. The jack 5 is hingedly connected to rod 2 and to the casing 4 to raise and lower casing 4 and seat 8. Links 11 hingedly connect seat 8 to rods 3d, 3g so that as the seat is raised it will tilt rearwardly relative to casing 4. A back rest 15 and head rest 24 are caused to pivot about a horizontal axis, Fig. 3 (not shown) by means of a hydraulic jack 16 situated in an arm rest 19 of the chair. A further jack 22-22a is provided in the backrest to adjust the height of head rest 24 relative to back rest 15. Head rest 24 may be adjusted angularly on an arm 23, on which it is a friction fit, Fig. 6 (not shown). The outer casing 22 of the jack may be pivoted about a lever arm 18 to give a lateral inclination to the backrest. The backrest is also adjustable in depth relatively to head rest 24 by actuating a screw 31.
