Abstract

1,180,336. Chairs. G. I. S. OSBECK. 10 May, 1968 [18 May, 1967], No. 22206/68. Heading A4J. A dentist's chair comprises a seat frame 8 pivoted on trunnions 9 to the head 10 of a vertically displaceable post 11, a foot rest 4 pivoted to a leg rest 3 pivoted to the front edge of the seat, a back rest 2 pivoted to the back edge of the seat, arm rests 14 pivoted to the back rest, pivoted levers 15 and links 16 connecting the arm rests to the leg rest for simultaneous movement and a pin or slide or a roller 22 mounted on an arm 23 on the leg rest and engaged with a guide 21 on a forwardly directed U-shaped portion 20 of the head 10 of the post. The leg rest is turned by a hydraulic motor 28 pivoted thereto and driving a screw spindle 27 extending through a threaded nut 26 pivotally mounted on the head 10 of the post. The motion of the leg rest is transmitted by the linkages to the arm rests and back rest and the roller 23 and guide 21 cause the front edge of the seat to be raised or lowered. The U-shaped portion 20 is pivoted to the head and is set in adjusted inclined position thereto by means of a set screw 33 and a locking screw 32.
