Abstract

A chair for seating the patient comprises a seat (1) and armrests (2). Behind this, and adjustable for height, is a back rest (3) and shoulder rests (4). The neck is held in a wide strap (5) holding a vertical rod (6) articulated about the end of a horizontal rod (7) allowing the head to be turned. The horizontal rod forms part of an articulated parallelogram (8 to 14) carried on an articulated vertical arm (15) and adjustable on a horizontal stay (17) attached to the back rest. The parallelogram, with balance spring (30) allows the head to be pivoted to the right or left about point (B) or moved forwards or backwards about point (c). Each set of movements has a hydraulic braking system (H) at one point.
