Abstract

1,149,506. Invalid chairs. P. E. C. UDDEN. 5 April, 1966 [9 April, 1965], No. 38795/68. Divided out of 1,149,505. Heading A4J. A foot rest 6 and arm rest 5 on at least one side of an invalid chair are supported by a frame portion 7, 8 which is pivotable about an axis substantially perpendicular to the floor to swing aside the foot rest 6 and arm rest 5 simultaneously. A locking means 17 is provided on the frame portion 7, 8 to retain the rests 5 and 6 in a locked position and comprises a spring loaded plunger which is engageable with an abutment 16 on the chair frame. The position of the foot rest is also adjustable by displacing a tube 20, to which the foot rest is connected, or by pivoting the tube 7 about a pivot bolt 10 on the tube 8 by means of a telescopic device 12, 13 controlled by a handwheel 11. A control box 22 for the chair is carried by one of the arm rests 5 on a vertical pivot 24.
