Abstract

104,314. Moore, W. J. P. Feb. 23, 1916. Disk wheels; detaching from, and attaching to, permanent hubs.-A wheel is formed by welding a pair of disks to the rim and hub (which may be recessed to form flush joints), preferably whilst the disks are heated throughout, so as to set up tension in the wheel. In the form shown in Fig. 1. the disks 62, 63 are welded to a detachable hub 52, which is secured to the permanent hub 46 on the axle 48 by means of a shouldered seat 54, 55 at one side and bolts 59 passed through abutting flanges 56, 51 at the other side of the wheel. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the disks 82, 83 are welded to a flanged brake ring 71 secured to the permanent hub 70 by bolts 74, which may be welded to the flange 75. To provide access to the tyre valve 87, one of the disks is formed with an oval aperture closed by the plates 90, 91. Specification 104,205 is referred to.
