Abstract

1129. Harris, F. H. Jan. 15. Disk wheels.-In wheels of the kind comprising a detachable rim secured between the peripheries of two or more disks clamped centrally as described in Specification 22,557/10, the disks are constructed so as to take lateral strains in tension. The disk A<1>, Fig. 1, which may be integral with the hub A, is dished outwards and takes the strains in the direction of the arrow b, the rim being held between this disk and the outer disks D, E by a central clamping-nut F locked by spring-pressed bolts G. The lesser strains in the direction of the arrow c are taken by the intermediate disk D, connected to the disk E. The weight of the vehicle is supported equally by all three disks. For taking the drive and assisting in assembling the parts, lugs M<1> on the rim N take over sleeves M, secured to the disk A<1> and adapted to receive studs M<2> carried by the outer disks.
