Abstract

104,316. Moore, W. J. P. Feb. 23, 1916. Disk wheels.-In wheels comprising a pair of disks secured to the rim and hub members, bracing-devices are provided which may consist of coned disks having tensioning means, Figs. 3 and 10, or of a springy ring connecting the disks intermediate of the hub and rim, Fig. 7. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the main disks 77 and the bracing-disks 78 are secured to the flanged hub and rim by bolts &c. 79, 82, and tensioned by nuts 92, 90 on transverse bolts 87. In a modification, only the inner disks are fitted with straining-bolts. Fig. 10 shows the disks secured to a brake drum 120, transversely - expanding spring rings 167 being fitted between the main disks 160 and the bracing-disks 161. In the modification shown in Fig. 7, a spring ring 139 is riveted directly to the disks 123, which in this case are secured to the hub and rim by shrunk-on rings 131, 135. The ring 139 may act in tension or compression to tension the disks. Specification 104,206 is referred to.
