Abstract

Spokes, securing and adjusting; hubs. -- Wheels are built up of spokes c, Fig. 3, of flat metal strips, arranged with the width across the wheel, and either in integral pairs with abutments C<1>, or singly with L-shaped feet, between which is forced a tube D to put the spokes in compression. Over one end of the tube is placed a disk E with boss E<2> and tongues E<1>, which pass between the spokes and are turned down over a disk F with a boss F<1> over the other end. As shown in Fig. 5, a collar may be formed midway of the tube D to engage a groove H in the feet of the spokes; and the wheel may be secured on its axle by means of spring clips K and a loose collar J, prevented from leaving the boss F' by flaring the end L of the tube.
