Springs.-The lowest coil of a helical spring used in a wheel tyre is formed of increased diameter, and may be held by a detachable and a fixed flange 19, 18, Fig. 6, or may be bent at the sides over the edges of an ordinary rim 11, Fig. 7. Each spring is compound and formed as a close nest the members of which are of decreasing diameter, Fig. 2, and may be of decreasing gauge and alternately of opposite inclination.
